MAXINE PRYCE                                   you've been actin'  awful tough lately.

Maxine Pryce had an odd sense of humour. Dark, mostly. So she should have found it funny that once upon a time she hadn't wanted to share any of Mickey with anyone else, screwing her face up at Marley and that stupid nurse girl who was always sticking her nose in thier business - the latter she still dismissed. She should have found it funny, but she didn't. Instead the thought made her feel strange, alien. She never liked change before, but now? It wasn't so bad. How ironic that she had chastised her brother for laying around with Jacinta and sharing his time with others, those that now found a home within her home. In Mikey, and the house that they lived in - he was always better than her. Kinder. More sympathetic. They had nothing once, and Max was quick to try and forget that fact. But not Mickey. Maybe nearly dying does that to someone. Paying for his sins, fuck if Max knew, but instead of rolling her eyes she began to smile softly at her twin brother's actions. Max almost found it comforting to sit down at the dinner table with guests - they filled up this empty house, made it feel a little less daunting. Reminded her it was okay to give a shit. It was okay to be nice every once in a while. Angel first, albeit under embarrassing circumstances. Lex second, at least she didn't live here. Mickey had always told Max that Lex reminded him of her and vice-versa, and his twin wasn't sure if that was necessarily a good thing. So she approached Lex Lionel with caution and intrigue, picking up an apple on the kitchen counter after wiping it clean with the sleeve of her shirt. "You like apples, Lex?" she asked, taking a bite out of the one in her hand. "Mickey found a worm in one, once" she giggled through a mouthful of smushed fruit. "Hasn't touched 'em since."
