She steps into the shop, dropping her handbag on the counter. She pulled her sunglasses off, peering around at the inside. The shop was important but it always looked to same. Maybe they needed to get new curtains or perhaps a nice plant for the corner.

She looked over at the cousin behind the counter fiddling with a device.

"Hedy, what are you working on?" she asked, leaning over the polished wood surface. Certain members of her family were graced with deft hands and keen eyes. They peered into gears and mold metal. You could give them a pile of junk and they'd make product, like alchemy. Bhama had tried many times to fiddle with clocks and even try her hand at the weapons in the backroom but it just wasn't her strong suit. She was good at talking and Ripred knows one of them needed to be. "Anything interesting?"

The girl sat on a curb, her right leg stretched out in front of her. It hurt too much to try to bend it and even as people grumbled about having to walk around her she ignored it. She held a bag of half melted ice to her cheek were a bruise was already blooming. By morning her eye would be swollen and black despite her best efforts.

She rolled her neck, trying to work out the pain blooming at its base. Her lips stung and a quick tap of her fingers to them came back bloody. They always chided her when she dragged herself in- stop beating yourself up and maybe you won't spend your nights under florescent lights.

How was she supposed to earn any money if she didn't beat herself up? It was the only job she'd held for any amount of time and was the only thing she was truly good at.

She could take a punch like no one else in District 6, if only it did't make her feel like she was going to pass out.

She shifted, pressing her ice hard against her cheekbone and wincing. One more fight and she'd at least have enough to make rent.

Maybe.
