The 79th Hunger Games Victor Presentation Ceremony

The president of Panem stood on the magnificent stage in the City Circle, addressing his people as he had done numerous times before. Another of his prized Hunger Games had come to a close. As usual, they had been an enormous success; enough blood, death, and tragedy to satisfy the viewers, and also to subdue the thoughts of rebellion that the high government official knew were brewing in the minds of some of Panem's citizens.

He was not a lover of whimsy. While certainly some amount of flare and pageantry was desirable, fanciful creations left him cold. He could not understand what could be so compelling about a Pixie Hollow, beyond the muttations that would inhabit it. He'd only relented because the arena was so different than those which had come before.

The Games started exceedingly slowly, barely ekeing out a death a day. If it had not been for the mettle of Hera Levelwright and the refined dedication of Hazel Delgaard, he might have taken over the Games himself on Day Three. However, the next several days proved fruitful; the Gamemakers expertly ushered the tributes together in fight after fight, stoking tensions. On the Seventh Day, three tributes said their final goodbyes. Given the lack of loyal Careers to root for, he found himself drawn to Akira's desire to know, and be known. Until he begged for death.

The President had silenced the television, his brows drawn together in fury.

It had not all together dissipated by the time he found himself standing beside Mackenzie Pryce.

President Snow quieted the crowd and prepared to speak. "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to welcome you to the victor presentation ceremony of the Seventy Ninth Hunger Games!" As usual, there was the deafening roar of approval that followed. "Tonight we will show a recap video of this year's Games, so be sure to stay tuned!" Like they have a choice, the president thought. The recap video was required viewing for all of Panem.

Snow went on to announce the prep team, stylist, escort, and mentor of the victor; all were received with tremendous applause. But then, the moment they were all waiting for... Snow plastered a smile across his face before speaking once more. "And now, may I present the victor of the 79th Hunger Games... Mackenzie Pryce!"
