SOMETIMES

Sometimes I think that the world will soon fall into place,
only sometimes

because when I hear the bullets and bombs above,
I fear all the beauty has been replaced by something sadder
I feel every heart slow down and await a dagger
It is something inescapable
until you come along and sing me to sleep with your song,
and then I hear birds in the breeze and I feel strong,
and I fly on the wings of love
Hopelessly free like a dove
between the bullets and the bombs above.

Sometimes I want the world to fall into place,
only sometimes

because beyond that door are voices that shout and scream,
it makes me wonder if people have lost their indoor voice
it feels as if destruction has become an easy choice
for the people I once held dear
but the peacefulness is just as big and scary too
because it is awfully silent to what I am used to
and I think it is powerful
and that I am powerless
behind the door with voices that shout and scream.

Sometimes I know the world will fall into place,

because when I look into your eyes there's a sweet escape,
I see a place where hands are held and not used to suffocate
I sense a perfection that just cannot be fate
for someone like me to get lost in
but it is captured within your eyes anyway
and if I only ever get to look then that's okay
I want it to be your paradise
and I am happy to pay a price
if it means that in you there is the sweetest escape.

FLOWERS

In time, I won't be such a shadow
I'll be laid to rest in a meadow
Hopefully where daisies sing to the wind row by row
Designing my own downfall is what keeps me alive,
because practice makes perfect when it comes to goodbyes

I shouldn't be scared,
People remember how you lived when you die
I can't be sure if I was good but at least I can try
because I like pretty things like bluebells
But I haven't seen them in a long time

They only give you flowers when you are dead
They only give flowers to the ones who are heaven sent
And I wonder if I'll get them

I have lived many hells
and my heart is now a church bell
and it will ring when I become one with the ground below
Then the earth will hold me sweetly and tuck me in so neatly
to the bed I'll rest my head when I see red

But the tragedy is that you'll only give me flowers when I'm dead
You'll only give me flowers when I cannot smell their scent
