In district nine, you have to be fast.
Terrance knows this. He goes for a run at six am every morning, making several circles of the block he lives on. At the end of the month he tries to beat his best time over a short distance. While he would never brag about it, his calves are unreal. It’s important to keep in shape, almost as important as keeping the mind sharp. In that aspect, Terry is near the top of his class. But school is far from the most important thing in his life.
It is the chance to make a difference. Some say that Mr.Moore is just another gang leader. Other people say he is a vigilante that should mind his own business. Still others consider him a hero.
Terrance is one of the latter.
His older brother was a hero too. As well as Mr. Moore’s best courier until that fateful day he had to run through dangerous territory alone. They’d been waiting, knew who he was. Who he worked for. They didn’t kill him, but they might as well have. The doctor said that he’d never walk again. Confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life, the damage to his spine too great.
But dreams do not die so easily, as long as there is someone willing to fight for them.
Terrance is Mr.Moore’s best courier now. If there is a package needs delivering, he’s the one to count on. If there’s a message needs passing on, he will memorize it and recite it to a tee. But there is an anger bubbling beneath the surface. A desire for justice that may indeed curdle into vengeance. He’s been doing something on the side you see. An investigation into which gang members from which gang crippled his brother.
And he’s planning to kill them.
