Percy Yena
Recently, Percy has wondered what his brother gets up to when he's not home. One night, Micah came in through a window, and that made Percy start to think. The young boy never questioned his brother, though. He never brought up his suspicions, as he figured that whatever Micah was doing was getting their food on the table, and Percy couldn't complain about that.
The two boys had been on their own for the last three years. Their parents died when Micah was fifteen and Percy was eleven. Percy took it exceptionally hard, although he had no doubt that it was likely tough on his brother, too. Micah had been providing for the two of them since then. Now, things are getting better for Percy, emotionally. He's gotten stronger, both physically and mentally, since what happened to their parents.
Despite Percy's large appetite, he knows better than to eat more than his fair share of food that Micah brings home. He needs to share. They don't have a lot, after all. Percy may often be hungry, but he tries to find other ways to occupy his time as a sort of distraction from it. He loves to go out in the District during the day to just go for a jog. Other days, he stays at home and writes in his journal.
The boy has always been smart, but perhaps he's more street smart than book smart. He's learned how to look intimidating towards those who cross him, despite his young age. He can wield a knife if he has to, as he's always sure to carry around a pocket knife, despite never having to actually use it. The thing is, despite this boy's attempt to be intimidating to those outside his home, he's a total sweetheart around those he cares about, and the only person he truly cares about right now is his brother.
Caring about Micah is what keeps Percy a bit more sane and makes it so that he's able to get through life. For a while after their parents died, he was quite distant from people, and found it hard to care about anyone other than himself. He and Micah bonded more, however, since their parents' passing, and it helped him realize that there's still good in the world. Having someone to love and care about has made the world of difference for Percy.
When Percy was younger, he had a lot of friends. Now, he doesn't really have anyone that he would consider a friend. Perhaps it's because he has a hard time trusting people. It could also be because, when his parents died, he became a lot more cold and aloof- harder for people to connect with. Due to that, his friends stopped really talking to him, and he's hard quite a difficult time trying to find new ones. Someday, perhaps he'll find new friends. For now, however, he has his brother.
The times that Percy and Micah do go places together, people can tell that they're siblings by looking at the two of them with even a quick glance. They both have light skin and hair that's as dark as obsidian. Even just looking at the way the boys walk so similarly, one could tell that they're related. At Percy's young age, the things he strives for are to be like his brother, and to make his brother proud of him. He just hopes that he is at least close to doing both of those things.
Percy, jogging down the streets of District Nine by himself, will sometimes get a strange glance. What is that boy up to? People wonder. The average District citizen may see him and find him suspicious. Sure, Percy is sometimes being a little suspicious, as he's a trouble maker, but he tries his best not to break any laws. He wouldn't want a run in with the Peacekeepers.
There are days, however, where staying out of trouble is impossible for him. It's like chasing one's tail.
