Wealth isn't difficult for your family to come by. Mother always said, however, that you shouldn't boast about such a thing. Although, in your mind, boasting about your wealth and simply displaying it are two entirely different entities. You wear your pricey possessions proudly, whether that be your clothing, makeup or jewelry. Many folks believe that your wealth is obtained unfairly. Surely, living in District Twelve, there's no way to make that much money, right?
You don't care what others think of you and your family. You know everything you have was obtained fairly, after all. Your mother is the hardest worker you know, working day in and day out for her large corporation doing who actually knows what. Your father does something government related, he tells you, but you're not sure what his particular work entails. Despite not knowing what your parents precise professions are, you know they're good people. Surely they have to be, yes? You know that they'd never be the type to cheat the system.
Your siblings, much like those outside of the family, don't believe that your parents are earning their money fairly. That's what you argue about with them more than anything. You know your parents are good, honest people. Your siblings don't believe you. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like there's any chance of changing their minds.
Another contrast concerning your siblings and yourself is the way that they act and dress in public compared to yourself. You wear your wealth well and proudly while they refuse to show off what they have. You're a much more vocal individual compared to your siblings, too. You're a social butterfly. You love to be around others and you love to entertain. Being the center of attention is something your siblings hate, but you love. The spotlight is your dream of a place to be, and in District Twelve, you're at least there a little bit. You just wish you could be in Panem's spotlight.
To be in Panem's spotlight, you need to do something extraordinary. You need to do something like be a stylist, Gamemaker, victor or some other type of celebrity. Although, as a District citizen, the only one of those things you can really strive for is victor. That's why going into the Games and coming out victorious is a life goal of yours. You'd volunteer to get there if you had to.
In District Twelve, the option of career training is unfortunately utterly unavailable. If only you were born in a career District- perhaps then your life would be going that little tiny bit more as planned than it is right now. Sure, you have a great life, but there are still things you want more of. The extent of training that you can do living in District Twelve is research. Reading books and rewatching old Hunger Games is how you spend most of your time.
You've studied all sorts of things, such as fighting techniques and the different strategies that tributes have used to become victors. The one thing that has interested you the most and that you have actually practiced a bit, however, is working with plants. You've started to identify which ones are safe and which ones aren't. You know what's edible, what's poison, and what could heal you in a pinch. You just hope that all of these studies- especially the amount of time you have spent on plants- will help you some day.
For now, you just have to live life to the fullest. One day, you're sure you'll either get chosen or volunteer. You'll eventually get the chance to fight in the Games. Maybe some day you'll even become a victor. Until then, however, things will just have to proceed as normal. Normal gets quite boring, though, doesn't it?
