Although she's a cousin to the famous Ruineds- Pixie, Lorenzo- she's tried to make a name for herself beyond that. If she has a famous name, she doesn't want it to come from the death of poor Pixie or the demise of reckless volunteer Lorenzo. She wants it to come from a true accomplishment. Unfortunately, all she's really become known for so far in the past several years is failure.
Castle ran for mayor twice. Every time that she was eligible, she seized the opportunity. She also, however, managed to fail both times. Her second campaign was much better than her first, as she'd only been nineteen years old during her first campaign, but it still wasn't enough. She was beaten out yet again. After that, she truly started to get discouraged, and isn't sure if it'll be worth another try next time or not.
Being discouraged over a loss, however, makes Castle feel childish, and she strives to move past childish things. She's even put away her childhood nickname of Cas that she had for so many years. She's not nearly as reckless as she used to be, either. Miss Ruined also does her very best not to bottle up her emotions as she always had for so long. She won't cry in front of others if she can help it, but she will still speak her mind if something that she doesn't agree with comes up.
When Castle was younger, masking her emotions was a specialty of hers. Now, as she ages, she tries not to hide her true self and true feelings anymore. She wants to be real with people, even if it means that she isn't as optimistic as she was in her teenage years and throughout the earlier half of her twenties. She always had such an easy life growing up compared to some people she knew, and perhaps that was yet another reason for her optimism. Now, she's faced more hardships as time has gone one. She's lost friends to death's grasp, and has had many failed relationships over the years, making it hard to keep looking at things in a positive light.
Still, Castle tries her best to look for the good in things, and in people. She wants to bring out the good in everyone, which is part of why she's tried to become District Five's mayor on more than one occasion. She wants to bring Five together as a community. She wants unity and friendship- kindness and compassion- among as many people as possible. Making everyone happy is her ultimate goal, even if in the grand scheme of things, it may truly be unobtainable.
Castle has never taken well to rudeness or bullying, and still doesn't to this day. If someone is being treated wrongly, Castle takes a stand to make sure that it's corrected. Castle was often bullied as a child, and doesn't want anyone else to have to go through that. If she can stop it, she will. She also knows what it's like to have her ideas ignored. That's why she makes sure to listen to everything that people have to say, and actually think about what their ideas were.
During Castle's second campaign running for mayor, she was approached by a girl named Caleb Genesis. This girl brought up the idea of tribute insurance, and Castle actually found it quite intriguing. Even after losing her run for mayor, she planned to reconnect with the girl to find out more about what she had to say, but it was too late. Caleb went through the eighty-sixth Hunger Games and didn't come back home alive. She lost only to the victor, Shy Aubergine. Castle wished more people would've taken on the girl's idea before that happened, because then, maybe her idea could've taken off even further, even if she weren't there to see it happen.
Now, Castle strives to come up with her own bright idea to share with Panem. She isn't quite sure what that will be yet, but when it comes, she plans to make it as big as possible. She will make a name for herself that's not just 'cousin to the Ruined tributes' or 'twice-failed mayoral candidate'. She's very determined, and when she's determined, she tends to get things done. The Ruineds are more than just a name, after all.
