You don't notice when the sun sets, only when the storm finally ends. It leaves thick grey clouds in its wake, perhaps and attempt to soothe the scarred horizon. The scent of rain is overwhelming, only undercut by the sharp tang of blood. Little rivers of red snake toward the lake, diffusing into the gently swaying surface. The final traces of your fallen companions are quickly washed away.

The anthem rings out of the speakers, as you have grown accustomed, but something is wrong. There's static clinging to a melody that is ever so slightly off tune. Nonetheless, silhouettes appear upon the clouds.

You wait for the sun to rise but it never does. The sun is not hidden behind those clouds filling up the sky, it is simply absent. It's colder than it should be, a gentle breeze pulls and pushes the mist laid across the arena. It seems to form into humanoid shapes that linger in your peripheries, they're watching.

It must be morning, because the speakers stationed about camp flare to life. Where the Gamemakers' morning announcement should be there is five minutes of uninterrupted, screeching static. It ends as abruptly as it had begun.
