Let's talk about how I went missing in Saturn City this whole week, y'all I have got to apologize for how late this is getting posted. It's been interview after interview in the Districts & now that I'm back all I wanted to do was get white girl wasted.
So... now that that's out of the way, Love Bellisario, right? If I told you all once I've told you a dozen times -- Love Bellisario is the drama these games, he's the moment, he's the juicy. Love Love or hate Love, that's a tribute we're going to be talking about for years. Last week you all voted Mr. Bellisario as the most changed these games, and if it wasn't him I don't know who else it would've been! Every week has been twists and turns for the Love stans, myself included, and that really culminated this past Games day with the fight against Ariel from 10.
Which... bitch.
That moment.
Remember two weeks when we all unanimously agreed District 10 would be the last pair standing? Well, we might've cursed them, y'all. Day 6 we lost both Thad and Ariel, it's a bad day to be a kind tribute really. Major respects to both of their families, because if I couldn't see these deaths coming, I can't imagine how they must be doing. Now, one thing about Thad is I never knew what his next move would be, he seemed to be our season's expert on surviving off nothing, so I really was counting him in that Top 8.
In the same fight we lost Thad, we also lost Waverly St. Amor -- how she didn't bleed out before then I'll never know. That girl is six days into her near death experience, so at this point I don't blame Julian for mercy killing her! And our 4th death for Day 6 -- Mauve Morganstern.
Ask me if I have the words, because I don't.
I think the best way I can describe Mauve is... clinical? I can't lie, I've loved watching her these games, but I was getting nervous for a second there. I can tell you all now that if Mauve didn't die, I'd be locking my doors at night, I just know she'd come for me.
With that last anthem, we have officially made it to the Top 8, and hell if it ain't one for the History books. Quick run down here, our Victor's going to be one of these eight:
- Julian Le Roux : distrist one's golden boy, Julian's placement in the top 8 is no shock to me. He's had a steady course these entire games, pick up a kill & cementing himself as a big midgames threat. Now, he and his alliance had a bumpy start with losing Emerson - I still cry about it - and the Wealth on Day 1. If Reece hadn't cut his cousin so soon, I'd say his alliance would have been a much more oppressive threat these games. Regardless, I can't imagine losing our best dressed to anyone but another career.
- Love Bellisario : if Julian's the sword, Love's the goddamn battleaxe. Likewise to his ally, he's been much more of a mid-game threat, taking the reigns these games around Day 3 forward. His strategy these games has been just as sharp as a career should be, positioning himself higher and higher each day. Not only did he win the Day 2 badass poll, but he also took our recent Day 5 poll as well, so the Capitol's eyes are on you, Love!
- Areto Pavalis : Okay, so I have been dying to talk about Areto more, she has been a poll-topper damn near every week. I just want to say: Miss Pavalis, when you win these games, you are a fierce bitch. Mark my words, I'm putting my money on this amazon girl! There is some bad chemistry between her & Love, and seeing those two spit at each other Day 6 was... whew! Tasty television is all I can say, she's already picked up one kill and I can see her ending these games with that honorable 4 kill count.
If the Gamemakers read this, Love vs Areto Day 7? That's all a career-loving girl can ask for.
- Robin Keeni : Oh, Robin. To everyone shocked to see him in the top 8, I just want to point out that that boy has been slept on since the Day 1 poll. He & Aspen both won the Underdog poll, we knew from the beginning they'd be hidden threats and here he is! No kills yet, the majority of Robin's combat has been in self defense, but I'm very interested to see how he plays out, especially now that everybody is solo like he was from the start. Not a smart bet, but hell if it ain't a fun one.
- Aspen Peake : So who was going to tell me she killed two bitches?! Like Robin, Aspen won our underdog poll back in at the start of these games, and I got to admit the more I see the more impressed I am! Every step of the way, from her & Reece winning to wealth to dominating their day 6 fight, Mackenzie Pryce be damned if this ain't his year. I'd say she and her district partner gave the careers the hardest run for their money, and I'd imagine she'll take that fight all the way to the end.
- Reece Jackson : Reece mothafuckin' lumberjackin' Jackson. What more can I say? Tied with his district partner for the kill count right now, he & Aspen are the power duo these games. When I say his kill on Emerson changed these entire games, that's the power this boy holds! I made a hot take a while back that Willa & Nora's double kill would be a detriment to their top 8 placements, and well... I can surely say I was wrong. I'm going to keep my money on my careers for now, but District 7 may just be where the money is these games.
- Fleur Adroxis : Babe's great grandaughter if I'm not mistaken, that there is enough reason to bet on her. And, ugh, look at her, isn't she just stunning? Fleur has been a quick and quiet killer these games, duo'ing with both Thread & Thad before their deaths and trying her hardest to protect the both of them. With everything going on these games, Fleur's probably got the cleanest record going into the Top 8. No enemies, no allies to betray, that girl is a free agent and a dangerous one at that. I'm excited to see how she turns it out now that she's in that top 8 spotlight!
- Avriel Baptiste : Our 8th and final tribute. The majority of his story these games has been through him protecting his allies -- Areto, Ariel & Blade -- so I'm especially excited to see what he does when he's only fighting for himself. He doesn't have a kill yet, but 1v1's are an all around game changer. No allies, no distractions, just a straight fight for your life. Just like with Fleur, I can't wait to see how these upcoming make-or-break days play out for District 9.
Whew, I don't know about y'all but I am out of breath! Huge congratulation to the Top 8 these games, a stellar display to this point & these last three days are going to be so juicy. Before we head out, we've got one of our final polls of the year, and we want to know, out of our dead tributes, who would you like to see in an All-Stars games?
Your reasoning can be anything from seeing your favorite come back to just someone who's story wasn't finished. Whatever the reason, vote hoe! This has been Capitol Votes, I'll see you all next week (for the top 4?!).
