Alright. So, maybe the first day wasn't as successful as I hoped. But that's okay! Today is a new day and there's more mouths to feed. I hope. Maybe they're waiting to go all out on snacks. Gotta spread out the love, y'know? If it were me, I'd already have had a whole lot of the shit they got serving here. Either way, I don't control these people. If I did, I wouldn't of been standin there as long yesterday. Maybe woulda had to go back and restock on ice cream because of a sudden flock o' hungry lickers.

Today was Delilah's pick. She went with Coconut for some shit like "it'll sound exotic", and then went with the Galaxy because maybe the colors will make people interested. I dunno. I'm just here to get some business.

I spent a bit of my time yesterday wonderin' if I could get Dustin or Delilah to stand in for one of the shifts. This fair thing looks pretty damn cool and I've been thinking that I should get in on some of the deal. Maybe meet some new folk, make a friend that isn't the damn cat (sorry, Scoops) or my family. Maybe they'd want to talk to me for somethin' other than a scoop of ice cream. That's a maybe though. I ain't have anyone I considered a friend in a long damn time.

Enough about being lonely.

In any other situation Quinn Emberstatt would've been grounded to hell and back and snuck out of her bedroom window to the Fairgrounds anyway. Luckily this particular event fell under the jurisdiction of 'making face', a responsibility unique to the Emberstatt's and Emberstatt's alone. So she walked out of the front door with her parents in her best dress, but not without a stern warning from her Mamma.

"If I hear even one peep about you causin' trouble..." Saffron had growled. She didn't need to finish her sentence - Quinn could fill in the blanks just fine.

Dad had said no more pocket money but Grandma had tapped the pocket of Quinn's jacket and winked on their way out. It was their secret language, a rebellion that didn't leave the outskirts of their homes. Enough to keep Quinn from misdirecting her energy to something much more riskier, the familiar rough of paper dollars curled up in her pockets pushing her tongue into her cheek as they made their way to the Fairgrounds.

Quinn had promised she'd help Enzo and Kiara at the Puppy Drive, and she had intended to find her brother that morning - she really, truly had - but the beckoning of sugar and ice on a hot summer's day made for a detour. Strawberry was tempting, but Galaxy sounded like something Quinn outright deserved.

"Hey mister-- Excuse me, sir," she corrected herself, the placebo gaze of Saffron's eyes on the back of her neck. "How much for two scoops of 'Galaxy'? I ain't never tried a flavour like that before. What's in it?"

If it were delicious, she'd come back for seconds. If it were foul, she'd convince Alex to try some just to see the look on his face.

Holy shit.

Holy shit. Pa' would be pinching Dustin to shut up about his frog collection right now if they were both here. Luckily they're not, but still. Of course the day that Delilah gets to pick the fucking ice cream flavors is the day that Saffron Lowe is a few yards away, with Quinn Emberstatt a few feet away. Come on, now. This is business. This is prime eatery exposure and I bet dad would be talkin' about how he's gonna get a wave of customers. I bet Delilah's gon' be the one to try and take the credit. Hell, if she gets the credit I better get some of the damn profit from it. I'm the one that had the idea for this!

"Hey mister-- Excuse me, sir," I could feel my blood pumpin' throughout my body. Adrenaline, like this was a fight or flight moment. Maybe it is. If I fuck up the ice cream business to a victor's kid, I think I'd need to find a new home. Pa' would not be happy. He can trust me though. I'm a 100% smile rate! For the day at least. The smile on my face counts, right? Wait- sir, now there's no need for that title. But I won't try and correct her. "How much for two scoops of 'Galaxy'? I ain't never tried a flavour like that before. What's in it?" Oh, shoot. Prices. I kind of forgot about that. She's a celebrity, though. Do I give it to her free? And what is actually in Galaxy? I don't remember. I remember it's a pretty boring flavor for the pretty colors of pink, purple and blue to resemble the night sky. I can't spend too long thinkin, though. I've got a customer to serve!

"Hey there!" My white-toothed smile as plastic as it could be. Sure, it got annoyin, but momma always gave me a pinch on the ear whenever I wouldn't have my plastic greetings. "Y'know, it's been a little bit since I've had it. My family and I have a deal that we get ta' pick two of our favorite flavors each day." I point lightly to the container with the Galaxy. "Today was my sister Delilah's choice." Pursin' my lips for a moment to remember the flavor, I give my best shot. "It's a 'mixed berry' type of situation, so you get a bunch of that sweetness with a pretty jazzy design to it!" Was jazzy the right word to use to describe it? I dunno. I'm just here to make the money.

Rhys

Beads of sweat roll from his brow, and Rhys wipes them away as he trudges past the tables set up at the county fair. The fresh scent of the different goods fill his nose, and it leaves him wanting more. He wants to taste everything, to see what district ten has to offer. Rhys wants to have enough to take home to his family, but he knows that likely won't happen. Yet it all comes to a halt when he sees the ice cream stand. His entire demeanor changes with each step until he's finally standing before it.

He stands patiently behind the person in front of him as he looks over the flavors and listens in as the guy explains what the galaxy one is. Rhys can feel his mouth start watering as he wants to try them all. He reads the menu again checking out the flavors. Maybe it'll be easier just to stick to something he knows, something simple, something that isn't too new.

Rhys steps forward without knowing exactly what he wants. "Excuse me, sir, I would like to have two scoops of coconut ice cream in a bowl please." He's never had coconut before, but he wants to give it a try. It seems better than the traditional flavors, and he hopes it's just as refreshing as he imagines it.

Damion Rothbauer was simply a boy on a mission. That mission? Creamify the district. No, that isn't a word. No, he doesn't care. That's what he called it, anyway. There's no distinct plan for making the district the fans of his creamy goodness, but that's what the stand was for. Spreading the word that his family's ice cream was the best darn thing to ever enter the districts' mouths. The customer of Quinn Emberstatt may have been the person to skyrocket the mission into space. There was already a line forming behind her! A line of one, but still - that's a line! This was obviously all his plan. If excited were a flavor of ice cream, Damion would be able to shit it at any moment. Once Quinn had been served, the next kind gentleman stepped up to receive his creamy goodness.

"Excuse me, sir, I would like to have two scoops of coconut ice cream in a bowl please." Coconut! That was a flavor Damion's mother came up with. It was to give the citizens (or customers in this occasion) an opportunity to have a "taste of the tropics", per se. Coconuts typically are something people imagined as a beach thing - those big, tall trees with those four leaves poking out the top? That one. The coconut flavor would be able to transport people into this place where they felt like they could throw on a grass skirt (or whatever they hell they do). His sister wanted to give flavors that represented the places that ice cream, or any meal really, had the ability to take its' eater to any place they could imagine. "Hey!" The boy spoke, bright as usual. "Ya' sure can! Coconut's a real cool flavor, and it's not just the ice!" A grin at his joke - one that he always likes to pull from the bag - and got to scooping. After getting two decent sized scoops into a bowl, the boy from ten presented it proudly, as if a prize goat. "Here ya go!"
