Personality:
Jim's appearance flaw definitely isn't a sight to behold. When he was twelve, he wanted to help fix something in his uncle's home, but he was told not to because it was much too complicated for him to help. He didn't listen all and went to look at the problem. The problem was that some metal broke off from the oven in his home and stuck in the outlet plug. He was curious about why the metal piece broke off so he tried to pull the metal piece out. The metal piece electrocuted him as his hand touched it. The pain of the shock made him scream out in pain and falling over he scraped his face on the metal as well. The shock on his hand left it badly burnt while the electrocution on his face has left a burn scar ranging from above his eye down to his cheek bone.
However, despite the scar on his face and the burn on his hand, he otherwise is an ordinary looking young man. His skin is medium tone and goes well with his dark brown hair. Sometimes he grows his hair long which he then puts into small cornrows or braids, and sometimes he just brushes it out. Right now, his hair is cut short as is the style in his district. His ears stick out a bit, which he is self-conscious about. At 5'2" he is short for his age and because of the lack of food and poverty in his household, he is considered skinny or thin build. However, it is Jim's eyes that are his most noticeable feature; in color, they are a deep dark beautiful chocolate brown but they are squinty so it gives him the appearance of staring all the time, even though he may not be, which makes him look intense.
History:His size. It has led him to proving himself however small or big a problem may be. Jim has a sense of determination in order to prove that he belongs in the world and isn't used just for the sole purpose of taking out ones frustration out on him for something that is completely out of his control.
Jim due to the beatings from his aunt and uncle have made him afraid of adults in general. He's constantly afraid anyone that is twice as old will end up beating him. It has led to distrust amongst anyone generally eight years older then him. Its not like Jim hates adults, its just that his aunt and uncle scared him into distrusting a lot if not all adults. He has a problem believing what adults say to him. He believes that what adults say to him is a lie and that he'll eventually be beat by them.
Jim even with the beatings is still a somewhat happy person inside. He holds onto his dream, however small, that he will be able to invent things. The constant abuse in his life is testing the limits of his patience, but his happiness for now is still there inside of him.
Codeword: odairWith Jim being in District Three and the pollution all over the place, he's developed a coughing problem. As of now the problem isn't that bad, but his parents have both died due to inhaling the pollution. He lives with his aunt and uncle whom he despises. They never seem to care for him at all nor do they rarely feed him, but for reasons unknown to him, Jim's aunt and uncle have done just the bare minimum to keep him alive. He may hate his living conditions and despise living with them, but he tries to make the most of it. No matter how he tries to impress them and prove that he belongs in the house, they still continue to beat him. His life with his aunt and uncle is a horrible one, but Jim is much too afraid of their wrath if he were to reveal what they are doing to him.
His family is very poor. Despite his uncle working as an engineer, he doesn't make much money, if any, to live even a normal life. Every single day is the same to his uncle. Go to work, then fix things, and finally come home breathing hard from exhaustion and sweat. His aunt works as a technician, but she hates the job. Each and everyday, both his aunt and uncle come home frustrated from their jobs. They proceed to beat Jim if he does even the tiniest thing wrong. It has led Jim to hate the rich. He believed it wasn't at all fair they can live a normal life while he is stuck in poverty and taking beatings on a daily basis. Although he hates the rich people, he himself wouldn't mind getting out poverty. If he just gained some money then his aunt and uncle might care about him instead of beating him.
Jim hopes to one day develop his own invention. He knows that the Capitol would seize whatever the invention might be providing its useful to them. He may hate the Capitol for indirectly putting him in his situation, but to develop something that the Capitol might use would hopefully in Jim's mind get him out of poverty. It's such a huge dream of his, that it's one thing that he does look forward to by growing up.
The hunger games absolutely terrified Jim. Nothing at home even with the beatings that he's received could compare to what could happen to him in the arena. Watching children kill each other while subsequently starve is tough to stomach for Jim. Jim believes with his own crappy life that he's gone though that just making it out of the bloodbath would be a victory. He has no skills in his own mind that would help him in a fight. His only advantage, however small it may be, is the fact that he's a small person and in the bloodbath that could save him with the more threatening tributes probably eliminating the larger threats before attacking the weaklings.
